Katia Scherf, the founder and creator of the renowned Cape Town eatery Smak on Bree Street, has harnessed her true passion for baking and has spent her days creating some of the most delectable cakes and sweet treats. Katia was formally trained at Prue Leith Chefs Academy and went on to further her pastry training at Ecole National Superiéure de la Pâtisserie (ENSP) while travelling in France. She worked at The Test Kitchen as a pastry chef before opening SMAK in 2016 where her cakes and baked goods became a firm favourite for the locals. Mixys is a passion project and Katia’s love for baking shows in everything that she creates.
